Those who have decided to stay with Apple for their editing software are making a tough decision for their next project – legacy Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Pro X. A little more than a month ago, I asked the readers of Final Cut Whiz which one they plan on using. The results may surprise you.
More than half of the 94 votes chose to use FCPX rather than FCP7. I was surprised, as I thought that there would be an overwhelming amount of votes for either legacy Final Cut or neither; with Final Cut 10 being the loser. I guess more people are deciding to stick with Apple and hope for the best.

I tried X, I really did, but I’ve had enough – never again. Two things I really didn’t like:
The magnetic timeline – no, no, a thousand times NO! I put things in a place I want them to be, X decides it knows better and moves them.
Keyframes: Yeah OK, they are there and they do work more or less as expected, but it’s a nasty, messy interface which makes explaining what’s going on really difficult.
I like to make timelines of sections and then combine them into the final thing, I can’t see how to do that easily.
The stupid little icons for the clips in the BIN amount to a mass of visual noise. I don’t need to see them most of the time, so why are they there?
Oh, and it looks naff.
FCP 7 needed an update, but this isn’t it. X is a new software and is no replacement for FCP 7.
