Six months ago from today Apple made their next-generation editing software available via the Mac App Store. These past six months have been a roller coaster of emotions for video editors. Most editors, when they first opened FCPX, hated it! It was nothing like legacy Final Cut and resembled Apple’s amateur editor, iMovie. Because of this huge change, there were those who decided that they had enough with Apple and moved to other NLEs, like Premiere Pro or Media Composer. However, there were some who decided to stick around and learn the program. Eventually, over time, more editors went on-board and tried Final Cut Pro X.
I have decided to start a new mini-series on FinalCutWhiz.com that shares the views of those who have decided to use Final Cut 10 and who like it. It seems those who haven’t tried this new application and only heard the bad reviews have a negative view toward it. I am hoping this new series will change people’s perspectives on FCPX and may give it a try. Hey, you might as well since Apple is now offering a free 30-day trial.
Starting tomorrow, there will be a new post starting with me giving my input on Final Cut Pro X. I will be followed by several other editors who have taken time out of their schedule to provide feedback to me. If you have used or are using FCPX and enjoy it, please feel free to email me requesting to write a blog post about it. Thank you and enjoy!
Here is a list of editors who have already provided their feedback about FCPX:
